We have wonderful news to share: 18-year-old Magai Matiop Ngong’s death sentence has been cancelled!
Thanks to you and Write for Rights activists around the world, South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir received 765,000 messages in solidarity with Magai, who was sentenced to death when he was 15 years old.
Authorities heard the message from inside and outside South Sudan, and on July 29th, Magai was removed from death row.
Magai has expressed his thanks to you and all who took action to save his life: “To Amnesty, tell them that I am so happy and grateful for what they have done to me and my family… I’m so blissful and blessed to have them as a support for my life and freedom.”
